During the meeting, Heredia said that Peru has made ??great progress in reducing poverty and malnutrition, but there is still much to be done for Peruvian women living in rural areas of the country, in terms of access to training and job opportunities.

The Peruvian first lady, who is also FAO's Special Ambassador for the International Year of Quinoa, took the opportunity to highlight the nutritional value of this ancient grain and its role in the fight against malnutrition.
