A 24- year-old woman was reportedly gangraped at knife point inside her home by her estranged husband's brother and friends on Thursday. The incident took place around 11 pm in east Delhi's New Ashok Nagar area when the woman was alone at home.
"The accused knocked on the victim's door. As soon as she opened the door, her brother-in-law, her uncle and two of her husband's friends forced their way in and raped her at knife point," said a police officer.
The woman, who hails from Narsinghpur district in Madhya Pradesh, had split from her husband last year following a marital discord, leaving their two children with him. She was staying with a male friend.
"After the victim's medical examination, a case has been registered and the hunt is on for the culprits. A team has been sent to Narsinghpur village to arrest the culprits," a police officer said.
"At the time of the incident her male friend, who is a night guard, was on duty," the officer added.
