Extending the Millennium Development Goal No. 5, on universal access to reproductive health, into the post-2015 goals is necessary, says Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin, executive director of the United Nations Population Fund. Educating youths about reproductive health, better use of data and inclusive human rights should be part of the post-2015 development goals, he argues. Devex.com (free registration) (10/30)

Envoy: Demise of M23 just one element of bringing peace to DR Congo
This week's military action against M23 rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo doesn't offer a conclusion on the ultimate defeat of the rebels, says former Sen. Russ Feingold, U.S. special envoy for the Great Lakes region of Africa. "It is not enough to get rid of the armed groups. This has been a recurrent story where groups like this go away and reconstitute themselves under another name," he says. Thomson Reuters Foundation/Reuters (11/1), IRINNews.org (10/31)
