Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman released the following statement:
"H.R. 7 and H.R. 36 are radical assaults against women's health care options and reproductive rights. Late last night, without notice to members, the Majority pulled their original bill and rushed a new one to the floor, after Republicans failed to garner enough support for their own extreme measure that would have stripped women of their constitutionally-protected right to manage their own health care decisions. H.R. 7 is no better. This bill denies women access to critical medical care and comprehensive health care coverage."
"I share the consensus with the 78% of American voters, including New Jerseyans in the 12th Congressional District , who believe the government should not interfere in a discussion reserved for a woman and her medical doctor. I am committed to protecting women's access to comprehensive reproductive health care services, including access to contraceptives; education regarding all reproductive options; and support for women before, during, and after the birth of a child. I will continue to defend a woman's right to choose and vigorously oppose attacks against it."
