Campaign # derechos365

Ana Isabel

I found this project just recently, I'd love to share with you:

I find it interesting to know the opinion of people in relation to human rights using a social network is a tool that most people use is a broadcast medium that allows us to reach different parts of the world. Besides being a window to the world, is to give voice to people, it's a place to share, and even to make visible the opinions of people even know what is being done right now in the world directly from those involved. It can even be a source of information for developing action plans for the future. Investigating, I've even found very interesting videos on this project.

What do you think of this project? Can have an impact and make a difference?

We should all be feminists, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

By Ana Isabel

I selected this video because I find it very interesting speech. Invites reflection on how we see the world, about the prejudices we have even some that are hidden but dormant activated in the most unexpected moment. Also at him I feel there is hope, there are people like that in this case contribute their grain of sand, seeking solutions is not only a criticism of the world. In particular I picked him because it gives a real insight into the current situation of African people, especially women, what is "politically correct" to society. Could you comment many details of this powerful speech, such as the linchpin education and the role of parents, but as I say let the person reading this text and ventures to watch the video to analyze it, to think that draw their own conclusions and analysis.

"Gender is not an easy conversation for both men and women, talking about gender, sometimes finds an almost immediate resistance. (...) That's the problem. Many men do not actively think about gender and gender realize and that's part of the problem of gender. Men say that everything is fine now. And many men do nothing to change it. "

Add that it is a matter of men and women, more people, each and every affects us and each of us and we have to do something, to do our bit, because if we focus on blame never finds solutions. Why not join forces to achieve real change? "If I change the world changes" BK

WHERE ARE WE TODAY ABOUT GENDER EQUALITY?

By Ana Isabel

Investigating about gender. Searching, reading and deepening on the subject. I found the following infography. Sometimes we think, what is the current situation in relation to gender equality? Coincidence or causality of life, I found this very interesting infography:

Although we see progress in the comparative data hits see these figures today. Because there is still a significant inequality, more than we imagine or think, there is still much to do. A curious fact I commented recently that in Costa Rica only 30% of women own.

As for infography
* 45% fewer deaths than in 1990, but still 800 women die every day from causes of preventable pregnancy. 800 deaths could be avoided, is a large sum even thinking that could be avoided if the media had.

* Between 1990 and 2010, 200 million people have gained access to clean water. Although there are women who spend a total of 16 million hours a day fetching water in 25 sub-Saharan countries. This figure shocked me. But it got me thinking about the importance of analyzing and adapting. That is, we noted that a draft women walking miles to fetch water. The project was a water well and avoid km. But for them it was the meeting point for communication and exchange. Is key to any project is in line with reality and real needs. Plenty to do but you have to see what is being done, learn from the successes and mistakes

* Still find differences in wages, women earn between 10% and 30% less. What would link with access to management positions, according to this infography represents only 5% of managers and directors. Add to reflect on the comments and social thoughts there when a man agrees to a managerial position and when it does a woman.

* Although gender parity in primary education is getting even find cases as in sub-Saharan Africa in higher education 64 girls per 100 boys. Not only have we tended to look at developing countries, because sometimes they are more developed in other important aspects that "developed" countries. Everywhere there is still work to be done, there are still children who have no access to basic education. We found that 60% of women are illiterate person.

* 1 in 3 women continues to suffer physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner mainly. For me this was one of the figures that impacted me, I believe the number is high, especially if we think of all the measures and actions that have been implemented. Will failing something or really effective actions are being carried out but time is concerned? What do you think?

I leave you to analyze the data, reflect on the figures. At what point do we believe? Are we moving? Have you had enough? What else can you do? ... Reflect

GENDER VIOLENCE FROM THE SOCIAL PERSPECTIVE

By Ana Isabel

Then we can find 4 links to 4 videos that are a social experiment, to know what the reaction of people to gender violence.

Video 1: http://www.upsocl.com/comunidad/es-abusada-en-publico-por-su-marido-la-reaccion-de-la-gente-es-simplemente-asombrosa/

Video 2: http://www.upsocl.com/comunidad/esta-chica-es-golpeada-por-su-pareja-en-un-transitado-parque-y-a-nadie-parece-importarle-demasiado/

Video 3:
http://www.upsocl.com/comunidad/este-video-cambiara-la-forma-en-que-ves-la-violencia-en-la-relaciones-de-parejas/

Video 4: http://www.upsocl.com/diversidad/una-pareja-de-novios-pelea-en-plena-calle-dos-veces-la-segunda-vez-wow-nada-me-preparo-para-la-segunda-vez/

The first two are on violence of a man towards a woman in a public place to analyze how people respond to GBV.

In the first video, we see that there is even a person not acting in a case of domestic violence, it simply goes when you ask if it was not his duty to say something, thinks not. Where lies the basis of commitment to doing something being a case like this ... in education, values ...?

In the second video we see that 20 people 4 act in a case of violence, what is due? Fear, ignorance...? As discussed in the first video was not sure I was going to get a gun, if I think honestly if I see a case in which a man is mistreating a woman, you may not be able to get me, but ... may be other options. It is important to know how to deal with a case of violence, violation of rights of a person.

The remaining two are an experiment in which he is first a man who mistreats a woman, then a woman who mistreats a man. As we can see if there is a striking difference in how people react to each type of violence by gender.

The first thought that came to my mind, what message are we sending? If we fail to act in a case of violence against a man, and even can be seen very sadly we see people laughing, how that person will report it, how will you make it visible? According to the video 40% of men suffer domestic violence, to my shocked me figure.

Can we really find that there is a visible difference in these cases when a woman or a man. But if you look a woman when the abuser talk about him, but when a man acts does so with violence. Will there be a difference in the way you act against violence towards people in terms of gender?

We see the videos that the reaction to the violence with violence, is the solution? Do we really have the skills, tools and resources to learn how to deal with a case of violence?

In this case the primary prevention is key, ie, information and training. It is better to prevent it from occurring, do not act when it has already occurred. The base and the starting point is education in schools. Another pillar is to empower people from the self-respect. Among many others. Plenty to do, but you have to make visible what is already done and it worked, what you are doing. We all can contribute our bit.

In roping with this issue. It is a matter of fashion? That is, for example, research found a song Beyoncé: The theme was played Flawless, which includes fragments of discourse "We Should all be feminist" (We should all be feminists), Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Not to be critical of this singer in specific, only as a reference example. But I doubt arises ... it really is a single event or really can see that in their songs, act ... it really is. I leave it as a reflection, we think, the impact on the cause of people who are "famous".

Another example, which had a great impact was Emma's speech with speech ONUMujeres on the urgency of political equality and gender equity, after launching the project #HeforShe (https://www.youtube.com/watch ? v = D95owlV43gQ

Rescuing two aspects of this discourse, as we see people want to help but do not know how, if this is really a globalized fact many people think there who want to contribute their bit and do not know how, therefore, as discussed it is necessary to do something, find a solution but you really have an impact, to reach the people, for it is necessary to adapt to each situation, make plans tailored and customized to each group, actually ... that are really effective.

The other is: consider a very good idea what it proposes Enma, make your commitment, do the public. But ... I comes to mind ... if everyone acts without more, without monitor, that person who has good intentions if you have a base knowledge about ... what will be the result? I'm not taking credit for the initiative, or the work you do, because thanks to every action that takes place makes a difference and contribute to the cause. Just invite reflection.

Based on these two examples .. What impact does a public figure in gender-related issues? Is there really a fashion is then applied in your reality? Do we do something about it just because a celebrity is involved in a cause? Is it positive or not for cause?

Lots to think and reflect, I'm not criticizing, I just want the person reading this article not only stay with my words, but especially the videos make us think, see further. Hopefully remove something within us / as to motivate and drive to act, to contribute a bit to this world, especially gender violence that claims many lives.

Not only is a commitment of individuals, but of states, organizations ... to promote primary prevention, providing people of all information and training needed, especially knowing how to deal with a case of domestic violence , we can do as individuals we live with other people and are part of a society. Furthermore, empowering people based on self-respect, it is one of the many keys, to prevent gender violence.

Finally I leave you this video of Benetton campaign on gender violence

BEIJING+20: A MOBILIZED WORLD

By Ana Isabel
The main reason I chose this topic is because in this page can find something interesting that will make us reflect on what is currently being done by women's rights and gender equality.

Although worth reading the project as it has positive aspects.

To contextualize, explain in summary what the Beijing Platform for Action (taken from their website: http://beijing20.unwomen.org/es/about)

The Beijing Platform for Action: inspiration then and now

The Fourth World Conference on Women held in September 1995, they shared one goal: gender equality and the empowerment of all women, everywhere.

The Platform for Action imagines a world in which all women and girls can exercise their freedoms and choices, and realize all their rights, such as freedom from violence, attend school, participate in decisions and have equal pay for equal work.

"The 20th anniversary of Beijing offers new opportunities to renew ties, revitalize the commitments, strengthen political will and mobilize the public. Everyone has a role to play and is for the common good. There is growing evidence that women's empowerment empowers humanity. For example, economies grow faster, and families are healthier and better educated.

The Beijing Platform for Action, that 20 years later remains geared to the future, provides a focus that brings people together around gender equality and empowerment of women. His promises are necessarily ambitious. But with the passage of time, and the stored energy of the new generations, are at your fingertips”

I wanted to make special emphasis paragraph:

"BEIJING +20: A WORLD MOBILIZED"
http://beijing20.unwomen.org/es/in-focus/beijing-at-20#world

"From celebrities who defend the rights of women to women and men who have achieved remarkable breakthroughs in favor of gender equality, this map shows feature articles, profiles and blogs celebrating Beijing + 20."

It is a map where you can see what is currently being done for the rights of people, it's a way to make visible the great work you are doing, what bit is bringing to the world.

From anywhere in the world in our daily lives is a person who is fighting for the rights of people, you need to know and recognize the work that makes a difference.

For example if Mtisunge Kachingwe is a 23-year-Malawi who serves as medical at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital. - See more at: http://beijing20.unwomen.org/es/news-and-events/stories/2014/5/relevant-yesterday-relevant-today#sthash.1xeUhpGK.dpuf
