Youth account for almost half of Papua New Guinea's population and comprise a large part of the urban poor. A World Bank program is helping youth in the capital with short-term jobs and training for long-term employment.

Thanks to the Karnataka Government's Jal Nirmal Project, supported by the World Bank, many families now have water connections within their homes and no longer have to make backbreaking trips to faraway wells with poor water quality.
With support from the World Bank, Moldova is overhauling its social aid program to better target those who need help. Remittances from abroad and profits from farming have shrunk, prompting a rise in rural poverty.
The World Bank's South Asia region responded to the recent brutal rape and murder in India with a campaign of 'Breaking the Silence' and 'Joining Forces' to help end violence against women.
