Advocate speaks out following recent violence against women

MINNEAPOLIS - Susan McCormick-Hadley is saddened by recent news headlines in Minnesota, incidents of violence against women.
"It breaks my heart," she says. "We have to raise the level of awareness."
McCormick-Hadley is the founder of WomanKind, a program to support and protect women caught in the grip of domestic violence. She is also an expert in topics like homicide within the home.
"You hear stories about 16-year olds being killed and it's just terrible," says McCormick-Hadley.
Nearly one in four women will become involved in a violent relationship at some point in their life. Experts say to stop it, those around the victim must speak up.
"If you see something, say something," she says. "I desperately hope we get woken up by this."
The MN Coalition for Battered Women has more information regarding where to find help.
